Default Tuning for Boost

What are the differences in the tuning when you are working with a supercharged or turbocharged car? Do you tune in different areas? Obviously you would be working with positive manifold pressure instead of a vacuum and that's where I'm lost - where do I tune for that in LT1-Edit?

I don't have a boosted car yet....just trying to figure out some info for helping a friend out who does.

Timmy,

Mainly you tune or trim back the timing at from about 90 -100 kpa, to get rid of any spark knock. You would adjust the PE vs RPM to get the WOT O2's at about 900 ( being conservative) If it is a Maf driven car you may need to adjust the MAF to richen up the LTFT. If your friend has an MSD BTM it can be handled through it or both... I highly suggest you have a Fuel pressure gauge permanently attached and a boost gauge. If you are running stock injectors make sure you have an FMA or a means of increasing your fuel pressure while in boost , if not you will have a "hand grenade"... Also get your self a logging program like autotap to log your runs, it makes it easier to dial in the the car.

TAKE YOU TIME! One second at 6000 rpm lean you can blow the engine... So as you you are getting it dialed in until you have a good baseline run passes at say like 60 , 70 , 80 percent runs I would tune initially to about 930 on the O2's so that when you get to 100% throttle you are not leaning out. Once you have a nice flat 930's across the band at wide open throttle, then start tweeking back your PE vs RPM to get you down to 900 - 860's ( that is up to you)

If your car is speed density, then you would tune the VE vice the MAF.

Hope this halps,

mo

So it's really no different than tuning my NA car then because of the FMU. On my car I use LT1-Edit and Datamaster so I already know what i'm doing there. Thanks for the reply!

timmy,

Yes, your correct, you just need to make sure you tune for like 12-12.5 :1 at WOT aside from that yes your correct... also watch that your injector duty times stay at 80-85%
