Ok - I have the Hurst shifter 89% installed - the gearshift rod is on the gearshift shaft - now I have to get the retaining pin back into the hole. - How in the world do I do that? I can't get anything near that pin in order to push it down.
I think I installed the pin from the bottom as well, with needle nose pliers. But it has been a while since I put mine in. I did drop the exhaust for better access. It is worth the aggrivation in the long run!
Thanks for the suggestions - I had gotten to that point, so the last thing I was going to do was take the shifter out to get the pin out. I ended up getting creative and using a small screwdriver to get it partially in, then using a long slim socket to force it in the rest of the way. Getting that lower boot properly installed..........well let's just say it's on there.

That lowr boot and me got issues with each other but I'm still standin and its on there. Lets just say I was glad there were no little kids around when I did mine. They woulda learn a lot of new words.

Other than that you will love the Hurst!
- I know exactly what you mean. I cursed the Corvette engineers, the ZF engineers...heck I even cursed my wife and dogs. I can't imagine the mindset to come up with some of the lame things on this car. They definitely didn't have the "do-it-yourself" guys in mind.
