I'm having my 87 L98 rebuilt and essentially plan to leave it pretty much stock. I have thought about putting a little more cam in it, but I don't intend to change the heads or the TPI for now. I just think now is the time to do it because I may make a head change or intake change later. Any advice on which cam to use? My goal is just to retain the nice stoplight to stoplight torque and goose the horsepower a little.

I'm not familiar with the Lingenfelter cams as mentioned above, but I know Comp and Crane make some good cams for this application. There is also the TPIS zz series cams. I think there is one for sale in there 'bargain' area you may want to look into.
Anyway, I think that stabbing a cam with no other mods is kind of a waste. The two biggest bottle necks in the system are the intake and exhaust. I think you'd get better performance for what you want by changing either of those instead. And to me it only makes sense to at least port your heads while you are in there doing the cam change. That's my 2¢
