Default Hydrosolator

Well I guess it's time to fix my hydrosolator. Can anyone tell me where it's at? I can't find it in the Helms manual.

isn't it located next to your blinker fluid resivoir?

In the Helms its right after the section on piston return springs.

I think you have to remove the phoznosticator's wobbly shaft from the rack and pinion rear end to get to it.

Oh. Your gonna need a left handed Johnson spanner and a roll of GM approved duct tape. Take your time. It's not that bad once you get the motor and trans out.

You are one fortunate MFer because this is one part that you don't have to remove the !@#$%^&* Johnson wire in order to repair it.

I still think it needs a new one. Sometimes just one headlight stays open. For awhile the digital dash looked like Klingon writing and would blink on and off. Half the time I can't keep it going in a straight line, it's like someone is pulling the wheel left and right. A few winters ago, I drove the car in 10 degree weather and it overheated, WTF? The windows used to rollup as slow as molasses. The Bose radio started crackling. The antenna used to just run on and on. Idle surges to 1000 rpm and then back to 600. Loose steering column. Try to lock the door from the outside and it's like someone is trying to turn the key in the opposite direction. If I could just find it, I think it'll fix a lot of problems.

And yes I did do a Search on this. I think we need a sticky.

Everybody keeps telling me that and I can't find it. They say "look in the mirror, look in the mirror". I can't figure out what the mirror has to do with anything. Anyway, I took it out and tried to get it apart, ended up breaking that too. Finally just left it out. Better take it to the dealer, they'll know what to do!

The hydrosolator was only used on the '83 models to control the turbos in the fuel pump, I think PepBoys sells them for about $7.00. While you have it apart it is best to also resurface the disk brake flange.
