I was always told the amp for the Bose radio is there...
On an '85, there are two other things I think it could be. First is the ECM, second there is a special MAF Burnoff Relay (85 only) which is also in that area...
Its a small silver box, about 2x4 inches or so. If you remove the passenger side bread box, you're looking directly at it. Its mounted vertically to the plastic dash structure. I'm sure its definitely not the ecm, based on its shape. Just wondering what it does, and could I remove it.
I think you're looking at the MAF burnoff module/relay. It's mounted directly behind the breadbox. I wouldn't remove it. It's an integral part of the MAF. I know the '86 and later models didn't use the burnoff module so there may be a way of removing it if the circuit is rewired to mirror the later models. Don't know if this can be done, never tried it or researched it much. I'm sure you could move it, seems there's a long pigtail from the harness to the module.
That sounds like a good possibility, since the car has a Bosch MAF on it. I will surely leave it alone if that's what it is. I have no desire to rewire the car, I just wanted to get rid of it if it was not doing anything.
