Default Used block source?

Anyone have a source for an 87 through 90 corvette engine block? I'm looking for a bare block that is rebuildable. Thanks

What I've determined is that you are better off looking for one locally. The shipping would double the cost of a bare used block.

The block is just a standard truck block nothing special about those years.
Just the intake is diff.

Intakes are intakes, that's not special.
An 87-90 is a late model GM 350 block w 1 piece rear seal.
(should still have 4 bolt main caps) easy to find

An older 2 piece rear seal block should work basically the same except the rearseal and pan go to that block

For that matter on a street motor you could use a 400 ci 2 or 4 bolt main, w 2 piece rear seal, match the pan, but it's harder to find an original bore 400 w/o race history. need to mag the block for cracks etc

The intake will still bolt up but you'll have a bigger torquier motor and lots of new rotating assembly combinations

oh yeah, just call the local machine shops, they have lines on all the blocks

Call Bill Hendren (Hendren Racing Engines) RUTHERFORDTON N.C. 828-286-0780
He's one of the best builders on the east coast and although he will tell you the Dart block far surpases a chevy block, He will know someone who has what you need.

BTW, you can buy a used street car block for $150-$300
but then it needs to be crack checked, bored, honed, hot tanked, magged, etc etc, and the block purchase and prep before building can easily run $1500 and take time.
You would need a very clean original bore and maybe get away w just a hone in order to use your stock pistons.
I suggest a new Dart Little M block for about $1800, bullet proof and ready to build. They come in 350 or 400 sizes

Any 1986 up, Gen I engine/block will do. None will be inferior to the Corvette, and many...better. Years back, I was looking for a 400 sbc core. The most economical way *I* found was in a 1970 Impala. I drove it home for $150.00 and let the kid use it for college until I needed the engine.

RACE ON!!!
