Sounds like your rounding off the bolt corners. Bummer, I don't know why those should be so tight. One of the suggestions I've read about using are the "Metrinch" sockets. They apply pressure on the bolt-head flats, not the corners. They worked for me, but I had a set in my stash. Don't have any other suggestions except soaking the bolts with "Blaster" and let 'em sit awhile. Maybe your tools are worn out and causing them to slip? Try a new socket if it hasn't rounded off badly. Are you trying to remove them from the engine compartment, or from under the car? Welding new bolt heads or nuts onto the old bolt is an extreme measure but one I would consider if all else fails. Hope someone else chimes in here.

Default 6 point? - Binding?

Are you using a 6 point socket - they typically grip a whole lot better and cause less rounding. What brand tools are you using?

The only other thing I could think of is that perhaps when you removed the mounting stuff the engine could have "cocked" up so the bolts are now under a weight induced stress that is binding up the bolts.

I found it easier to get to the top tranny bolts by unbolting the transmission tailshaft bolts and jacking the rear of the transmission about 4 inches which gave more room to get to the bolts you are having problems with. Hope this helps.

Take the intake off and the distributor out and you should be able to reach them from the top with a wrench to break them free.
