I just had the 700r4 transmission in my '89 auto coupe rebuild. I am questioning these prices:
Labor $800
Parts $1600 :
master overhaul kit
torque converter (2500 stall)
filter kit
washer kit
bushing kit
solenoid
sprag
reverse steels
Also replace freeze plug for $175 while the transmission was out. I need some help on this one. Thanks guys.
I paid $1200.00 for my 700r4 rebuild and $700.00 for my converter a vigilante 2500 stall. I then had to install it .
I think you did good if all was done as you wanted.
Only time will tell.

I don't know what the stall cost you... but I had a 200R4 rebuilt for $900. This was a few years back and I don't recall what all was done... but it worked when I got the car back. I'd venture to say that is a high price...
I'll bet they were smiling when they handed you that bill, and I'll also bet they said to please come back. $175 dollars for a freeze plug!
The freeze plug wasn't much more than a dollar or two and even with an hour labor charge it sure isn't that much. The other prices are out of line too as far as I'm concerned.
