At any rate, 10.5-11.0:1 is a bit high for iron heads, so you may not be able to run the ideal amount of timing. It really depends if the engine is detonating at that amount of timing. This is assuming, of course, your running 91 octane or higher.
I thought .040" seemed large to but under higher RPM's and some stress the heads of pistons were commin right off when gapped .016-.022"...i'm pretty sure this info came from a speed pro tech...don't hold me to it though. Why would a compression ratio of 10.5 or so not be able to run the ideal timing with iron heads? I run nothing but 91+ and usually octane boost 1 out of 3 tanks run through it.

A little off topic but I'm also wanting to run dual exauhst...i was thinking 3" with my setup (with H pipe). the only problem is that I have a new set of flowmaster 50 series delta flow muffs for the vette (300$) that have 2 and a quarter inlets i think. What should I do about this delima??

The reason you can run a higher comp ratio with aluminum heads has to do with its thermal conduction properties. Combustion temps run higher on an iron head because of this.

Why, you're gonna have to ditch the flows of course.
No point in considering adaptors, if that's what you're thinking.

Well, the 3" inlet standard version cost around 70$ i think, half of what one of the others does. Looks like i'll be switching them...lol

Pretty high, actually. Maybe 420-440 chp?

Default Sounds like it could be......

Your timing could be off and could be throwing raw gas. I saw a post about your dist. of a tooth also seems a place to start. (amoung others)

I agree with comp, it's running lean. That's why the coolant temps are high too.
