I bought one of the GM special ZF trans for $1900.... The transmissions ARE NOT NEW.. They are rebuilt. I bought mine from Ken Fitchner and he bought a few from the GM auction a few months ago. A new one lists for $5xxx

The ones I mention are new for $1800, I bought one from gmpartsdirect.com and mine was new never installed.
It was not a GM special, not sure what that is maybe it is different. I know that when they are rebuilt by GM's rebuilder they tag them with another tag saying "remfg for GM".

Even it it was remfgd, it was still a better price then ZFdoc and other rebuild charges.
I will email them on Monday and ask them if the one I got was new or remfgd.

the box mine came in said reman on the outside but I'm not sure what a reman tag on the trans would look like. Is the tag a different color or does it say remanufactured trans??

It actually has a tag riveted to the side that says
REMANUFATURED FOR GM with anohter reman #
I could be wrong but if yo ulook at the email from zfdoc and add $1800 to $2800 he ementions I assuemd it was new since it ahd no tag.
Once again I could be wrong, maybe they dont tag all of them or maybe they dont tag them anymore, with GM i woudl never be suprised.

Hi Larry,
Sorry it took so long to reply, been very busy lately which is a good thing.
GM is clearing out the last of their ZF S6-40 transmissions from inventory.
If you are at all serious about converting over to the ZF S6-40, I strongly recommend that you contact your local GM Parts
Department and purchase one of these transmissions a.s.a.p. P/N 12455189 (ZF S6-40 540Nm).
It has been 4 weeks since the GM’s clearance price sale began and from what I’ve heard, there are currently less than 70 of 400 units left in stock.
GM is selling these units to the dealer for an incredibly low price of $1800 new complete with shifter. That is $2800 less than what they normally sell for.
Converting your 4+3 to a ZF S6-40 is the best way to go.
