or it might be leaking coolant into the cylinders. i have had the same symptoms with a blown head gasket. this one is easy to check. take the radiator cap off and look for bubbles in the coolant. if you see them then you've got a head gasket problem.

this is where i'm stepping above my pay grade, but logically if you have bubbles in the coolant after the install then you either have a faulty head gasket install or some kind of problem with the surface of your heads or block.

are you using a hi-po skinny head gasket? did you check your block for cracks before head install? have you had a major engine overheat? maybe there are some waterjacket issues. maybe someone else will know more about these topics.

1) check the timing, after dist removal it is very easy to reinstall just one tooth out...CHECK THIS first
How would one do this? Just move the rotor one tooth either way, try and error?

ya and then what?
read these posts http://forums.corvetteforum.com/sear...earchid=788516 it starts out as a head gasket problem and as the reassemble progressed, may have caused some OVER looked/missed issues that lead to the problems listed...

for the distrubutor being out one tooth, simple achieved. even if you mark rotor to a referrance point. the oil pump shaft turns as the dist is removed. may not line up when reinstalling causing oil / dist shaft to mate at a differrent refferance point on the cam.
