Just a quick question regarding replacing the coil, cap and rotor in my '90 6-speed...I have the choice down to the Accel HEI Super Coil using Accel's "Performance" cap and rotor....and Hypertech's Power Coil (with their cap and rotor)...wondering if anyone has upgraded to one or the other of these and opinions on which is best? I will also be replacing the control module while i'm in there...Accel HEI module or Dyna Mod ?
If it makes a difference I have Bosch +4's and Accel 8.8mm silicon wires installed already...Thanks in advance for the input.
If it works for you go for it .
I don't like accel anything but that is my opinion ,had bad luck with their stuff.
I use msd coil box wires ,with msd their junk is eather good or realy bad.
Stock is just the same output as the aftermarket.
I use the msd only because I run nitrous and I need double the spark ,incase one shot from the coil is missed, then it pings and bang motor gone. But it realy does not give the big bang for the buck like factory.
I've been running the HyperTech coil/cap/rotor combo in the IROC for 7yrs and in the Vette for 5yrs with good success. The nice thing about this setup is simplicity...just plug it in and it works...to well over 5k RPM.
I also run TPIS wires and cut-back stock style AC Delco plugs gapped to .045".
