has anyone put these on a lt4? i think i remember reaing that some lt4 owners have. how much power does this give you? is it safe? what makes them give you more compression? please help fill me in here
I'd like to use the Impala head gaskets on my 92 to bump up compression. My heads have been decked a couple times and I'm not sure where my compression actually is now ...
I'd also be interested in knowing what the actual change in compression would be by using this thinner gasket ...
I've been running them for a couple years. Imp gaskets are .029" compressed. They'll bump your static CR to 0.4, give or take .1 as I'm going from memory
Unless you've performed other mods already, pistons on stock LT1s and LT4s are generally between .025 and .030 in the hole. Therefore, adding the thinner gaskets helps quench.
It won't net much hp...5-10 depending on specifics of the setup...but since you have to install head gaskets anyway, "why not?"
You may or may not need to tweak your timing map, again depending on specifc setup and parts.
with 96GS#007....have the Impala gaskets on my mildly modified LT1 and have been running pump gas for several months without any problem - and have been beating on her pretty good - she seems to be enjoying the punishment.
