I'd like to know this too. I know Jim Mason (GS???) is planning on installing this cam very soon. His insight has got me thinking... but I'm already set up for the hotcam.
I have never used this guy but have heard great things about his camshaft/head packages and several of the F-body guys are using him. Lloyed will also answer any questions you may have about the 847 with your set up.
Plus I thought it was the 846 cam Jim Mason was going to use?????
Listed right above the 847...
Correct, I'm running the 846 cam. IMO, the 847 is a touch too big for a 350 that sees street duty, especially if you want decent street manners and you don't want to lose low end torque. In my case, I've been known to drive 7+ hours to events . As a result, dealing with cam surge while cruising along in 6th gear and 1800rpm for most of that 7 hours wasn't acceptable to me..
The 846 has a couple more degrees of duration than the HOT Cam and more lift (.543/.563 vs .525/.525). I have just over 900 miles on the new engine and I'm very pleased with it so far. My part throttle tuning is basically complete. The plan is to hop on the dyno in the March timeframe for WOT tuning. I'm expecting to be around 375rwhp @6500rpm (previous with the HOT Cam was 363 @6400). Gotta get WOT tuning taken care of as I'll be teaching and driving at a PCA driving school in April
Personally, I think the 846 cam is the best kept GM secret ever.

I've run the 846 cam for about 2 years now in my LT4 and it performed great. I'm taking it out now because of the 383 that's going in. I've seen some F-bodys using the 847 cam and they have some impressive numbers, but I've never seen a dyno chart so I really can't tell where the power is actually being made. The cam in BoulderLT4's car makes great peak power, but take a look at it lower in the RPM range...for street driving it may actually be a bit slower, unless you want the engine to be revving all the time. I'd like to see that cam in a 383+ or with a better set of heads backing it up.
I happen to have that cam in my car. I still need a good tune because my tune is for the LT-1 Hot Cam. Car ran a 11.87ET at 117MPH on street tires (Yoko's) but the next run broke the Transmission (ZF). I have not dyno'ed the car, but it's making power. I have a 383CID w/stage 3 AFR ported heads & shory headers & 1.6 RR which creates lift up to .574/.596 & 4:11 rear gear. I drive the car to work sometimes & actually don't have the cam surge most talk about. Planning on moving to long tubes, 3 in exhaust & a good tune. Presently using Borla's.

A friend of mine is running the 847 cam in his 95 Corvette with a 396 stroker from MTI. The cam was suppose to be a MTI custom grind but from all indications we have its a 847 which is ground by Crane for GM and or MTI. My friends car absolutely screams, it was to have made 550hp on their engine dyno, and when I last rode in this car it felt like it as well. The cam did howver exhibit cam surge on the bottom end. It didn't like loaffing around at 1400 to 1800 RPM and cam surge was highly evident during my test drive with the car. It did however scream when he put the pedal to the metal as promised.
The 846 and 847 cams are made by crane 109831 and 109841 are the part #'s I believe. I have been running the 109831(846) for several years now and love it.
I plan on installing my new 383 with the GM847 in two weeks. This will be my first motor swap so I hope all goes well. I post dyno sheet by mid/end FEB...
