I have "heard" some negative things regarding the Granetelli units....

If you have an LT1, leave the damn thing alone.
The 'performance' MAFs are just a gimmick to get your money.

A performance MAF and an Airfoil gave me 40hp to the rear wheels!!!
Roger

Had I would've known in late December, I could have asked Santa to drop them off to me here in Australia...Damn; now I have to deal with freight costs!
I have run both SD and MAF and they are transparent - the MAF actually 60's better with the tube and MAF in place than the SD does in repeated tests.
Don't bother- get something than will matter.
I am looking at the larger body MAF....82mm....since the cross sectional area of a single 82mm opening matches almost exactly the cross sectional area of twin 58mm throttle body...and I did already go with the 58mm throttle body
If you upgrade to 58mm throttle body without upgrading the MAF it seems like you have created a mismatched system of sorts?????
I am going to spend the $59 it hopes that it might help....still haven't seen it but it is on order..

Update: I just got it......smallest diameter is 80mm plus I am not sure about the "air foils" in the center.....

I would be most interested in what you think about your ported MAF. I might do the same.
Another forum member did this and said it was pretty easy to install
point is, all those "free" or super easy mods don't really do anything. Want more power, sorry bud, but you'll have to change something that actually matters.
Air delivery is always a bottleneck (fuel is easy, spark is too) as well as it's removal. Cams, heads, headers, intake manifolds - those are things that will actually create a need for more airflow. There are people running 10s on this board with stock MAFs, so obviously that isn't a bottleneck.
As for descreening your maf, read this:
http://www.gmtips.com/3rd-degree/dox...maf-screen.htm
....and stop worrying about it.
Seriously people, quad tip spark plugs, jumbo-sized MAFs, what's next? How about header-wrap on your spark plug wires? less heat = less resistance = faster spark, right? Quick, let me make a kit. $59.99 and typically gains 12 rwhp*. Order yours today!
*Actual gains may vary.. a lot.
