Default My new 8 rib design

Here is my latest 8 rib blower drive design. The billet hub I designed last year is still the same but this time I got better pictures.

This is the complete assembly before the balancer parts are vulcanized back together. From the left, my billet hub, the balance inner hub, the balancer outer ring and drive side

Close up of the crank hub and the mating balancer inner hub

Frontal view of the crank hub and balancer inner hub

Side by side comparison of a stock LT4 cast iron crank hub and my billet hub. Notice the additional material behind the flange. This is because in order to machine a key slot they have cut a groove for the chips to break in during the slot maching procedure, adding addition steel here strengthens and reinforces that area.

So is that an underdrive accessory or an overdrive blower pulley? What's the $$? Have any pics of the vortech blower mount yet?

Thanks.

Standard accessory drive OD on the factory 6 rib drive. The blower drive, well you can say its overdriven if you compare it to what Vortec gives you. That is because the machine the back half of the balancer so that it remains the stock OD. If you want to call this an Overdrive then it would be about 15% overdrive above what Vortec gives you. I haven't got pictures of the mount yet but thats soon. I need to re-post a side by side comparison of a stock LT4 crank hub to my billet hub so one can see where mine is reinforced with extra steel to in sure strength. As for price, I haven't received the bill from the machine shop, but its not going to be cheap

I'm sure it's not cheap, but sweet... Will the larger diameter cause any clearance issues?

Are you going to cut keyways in the hub?

No problems at all, I run the same OD or slightly larger with my cogged setup now. The hubs already have keyway slots cut into them.

Tom,

Where do I sign up.....I need that. It looks like a very high quality piece for sure. I bet it's going to cost, but I am willing to pay for quality stuff.

Tom,
Is there anyway you could have them turn a 12-rib instead of an 8-rib? If so, I'd be interested in one....CT

probably not enough clearance for 12 rib since the blower belt is toward the engine.

tj, is the cost of the piece in the cost of the aluminum stock, the machining time, or just what the shop charges? I have a buddy that sells cnc machinery and every once in a while he needs to do demo's. Perhaps he could machine this stuff or have a shop that he knows do it. I like your overdriven design.

My designs are made of steel. Its not so much the cost of materials its the cost of labor If he knows a shop that can digitize the hubs and the balancers that would be great. But generally that costs a lot of cash as well, because you still have to set the machine up to do the work. Its great if you are going to make a production run of many pieces but for just a few its not productive. I had my machine shop make hundreds of stainless steel push on hose fittings for my pulp mill instrumentation projects. In those cases it paid off because of the quanities. In fact I could beat the local Parker Hannifen and the Swagelok prices by at least 40%, which saved my company hundreds of dollars.

I will be posting the finished product here in the next day or two. I have been dealing with business dealings at the shop, and its been a royal PITA Let me give all my friends here a little bit of advice.......DON"T GO INTO BUSINESS WITH FRIENDS !!

This has been done by SUPER DAMPER for carrol supercharging,
it was a custom peice part # sk-062g it cost 500.00 the 6 rib is 7" and the 8 rib on the back is 7 11/16'' . sweet piece has keyway and the outer shell is aluminum w/ hardcoating.
ATI superdamper # is 410.298.4343
This damper is said to take 3 weeks to build.

that's the route I'm going to go once I find a t trim. I'm going to pick it up through greg. He's been very helpful with the info. We should get a gp setup eventually. It will help the price significantly.
