Default Longtube headers

I have been looking around for a set of headers for my '93 and I'm considering either Hookers or Exotic muscle.

which are better?

Where can I buy NEW exotic muscle units?

I found the hookers for 520 bucks on Jegs, but I heard that the ceramic coating they use chips really easy and the primary flanges are too thin, causing leaks.

I ran Hookers on my race car for years. The last set I had was coated with no problems what so ever.

That said, I think common concensus is that the EMs are superior build quality and fit, less mass production. I haven't seen them though.

I have the EM headers, so you already know what my recommendation is going to be. If you want to buy them new, just call EM directly. The number is on their site at www.exoticmuscle.com - ask for Trevor or Merle - they have dealt with MANY of us CF members, are extremely helpful at answering questions, and are overall really nice guys.

Here are the EM headers on my car from the nose looking back:

Here is a shot from under the center of the car, looking forward. You can see the Corsa H-pipe mating up to the cat pipes which EM sells, and the Random Tech cats on either side of the ZF6 tranny.

Here's a shot of the right-side primaries and the collector mating up to the catpipe.

You won't find a person who'll deny that the EM headers are expensive, but I've also not heard anyone say that, after all was said and done, they weren't worth it. IMO, their reputation speaks for itself...

Also the EMs are slip-fit at the collectors. This saves a lot of time when R&R the exhaust system which is necessary to do so many things under the car. And they have the correct emissions hook-ups for the LT1, The Hookers are really for L98s.

WOW perfusion, that exhast system is pretty!

By what their website says, the price ($642) would be about 120 bucks more than the hookers. It looks like the build quality is worth it, but I need to know more info, like primary flange thickness.

how do the mating surfaces of the EM primary flanges look?

ever had a problem with sealing ?

I'll call them up tuesday- thanks for the info.

the headers are more like $750 for the EM's unless you call them and see if they will let you into the GP that they were just running here.
Then they have the extension tubes that go from the header into the Corsa's. If you have an A4 then I would say "don't get them" (the extension tubes). I did and I had problems with them hitting the trans. I got them in with a little but if they start touching the trans again I will be pulling them out have have a shop build me new ones that are one piece.

As for the EM headers themselves, they are great and I think worth the extra money over the hookers.

I ordered the EM LT's back when they offered the group purchase a few weeks ago. Last week I stopped by EM to see if they had arrived yet. I met Trevor at the shop WHILE he was installing a pair of the LT's on another customers car. I was VERY impressived by how well they fit and how they looked. I think you could find some others that fit with some modifying but why? EM has taken all the guess workout of that by making some kick *** headers! The header question comes up at least once a week on this board it seems like and 90% of the people who chime in on the subject say EM.

Did you get any info on when they will start shipping? I'm guessing I was the first to order since the GP was first posted on a Sunday, I believe, and I called Merle Monday morning as soon as they opened and ordered.
