Default Luke warm heat.

The heat blown is hotter than the ambient temp, but not nearly as hot as it should be. Since I have some heat I am guessing the core is not plugged but possibly partially restricted. NE1 have this prob and if so did you try a coolant flush?

96 ...radiator has ~20k.

Thanks

Do you have the electronic HVAC controls, and if so, is this with the temp set to the highest? (I think it's 90 but I forget)

Did the problem just start all of a sudden or has it always been like this?

Mine only blows hot if I have it on 90 and only blows cold if I have it on 60. In between I get lukewarm. It's been that way since I've owned it. I suspect maybe the temp sensor is messed up, but I haven't gotten around to investigating. The airflow from those tiny vents is so small that I pretty much need to run it on max anyway.

If you suspect a heater core problem, I wouldn't do a flush until you have time to change the core because the flush may cause a leak.

Maybe your coolant level is just low. That has happened to me in the past.

I have had to flush my heater core on a couple of different occasions due to exactly the same symptoms.

I used shop air last time and it's been working ok all winter.
The garden hose is handy if you want to liquid flush it.

If you do decide to flush the heater core, handle the 2 heater core tubes gently. You don't want the PITA job of replacing a H/C.

I might even reverse flush it with the garden hose, but instead of removing the heater hose from the core, remove it from it's other end.

Let us know if it's electronic control climate.

- Set at 90.

- Problem started (noticed) one day, not gradually. Normally 90 will melt shoe soles!

- Ill check the coolant level. Sure would be a nice surprise. If not, Ill flush!

"I used shop air last time and it's been working ok all winter." Do you have an idea what psi was used?

thx
