on a 84 vette,
Does the smog pump, or anything else,
have some type of non-standard
mechanical attachment to the intake manifold?
I am contemplating changing to an aftermarket
intake, but I don't want to change
any of the 'front of the engine' bs.
The smog pump does mount to the front of manifold.
You can leave the pump off, and just run a shorter belt if you wish.
What type of manifold are you planning to use?
Ben.
I run the X Ram it comes with a small adapter bracket for the air pump lower bot to attach to. I ended up leaving the air pump off and making an idler pulley to go in its place when I put my 396 w/ headers in.
I want to be able to swap betwen two setups,
stock, and some other manifold.
I am aware that there are other issues, such as
the car's ECM, but I think I have a workaround for that.
The other manifolds I am thinking about are:
Weiand Team G, and Edel Victor - Jr,
topped by a Carter AFB injection system.
I know that the Victor will be tight, if it fits.
....
Concerning an attach point for the smog pump,
could something suitable be fabricated,
and then bolted to some aftermarket intake manifold?
