Default Wheel nut threads Gone need Help

Doing the entire brake system on my car and 15 minutes into the job and I ran into problems

When I tried to take the take the back tire off the car it seems that the previous owner not only over tighten the bolts but he completely stripped two of them.

I have tried everything to take them off and I can't.

What is the next step?
1. Take it to a tire place? And do they charge a lot for taking these off?

2. Getting a drill and completely drilling out the bolt and screw?

I am loosing my patience as I tried a number of things and I think I just made it worse.

I would grind the nuts till you can split them without too much pounding; then remove the wheel and press out the two studs.

Use a large socket over the rear of each stud with a nut on the threaded end and a large C-clamp to press out the studs. A little PB Blaster and a copla raps with a hammer might help to get them started but don't beat too much on them.

Buy or borrow a good nut splitter tool. You'll also in all likelyhood have to replace those studs too, once you get it apart.

I am sorry if I sound ignorant but is there a nut splitter tool out there? Do you think I might be able to buy it at the local Auto Parts store?

You might want to save yourself the headache. Call around to some local tire shops and see if they can get your nuts off. (sorry coudn't resist) I think most shops have a tool for this, like when people lose the key for anti-theft lugnuts. If your nuts are recessed in the rim (like most) getting a nutcracker on it might be tricky.

Not to mention damaging to the wheel. If you have Pep Boys in your area and are set on trying this yourself, i think i remember them having an odd type of tool thingy for this. I had this trouble with an old Trans Am i had, and let me tell you, i ended up using eveything from a dremel to a sledgehammer and the wheel was pretty fugly once i got it off.

PEP Boys sells a tool for getting off the locking nuts when you lose the key. Might work
