Does anyone know what the torque spec should be on a set of corrello H beam rods with ARP bolt 8740. And what the clearance should be on a JE forged dish piston 522F for a vortech S/C gasoline motor?
Arp is the one to consult for proper toque spec. The bolt material dictates the torque of the fastener, not what it's connected too. You are trying to approximate 50-75% of total yield strength when you torque something. It is calculated using the friction coefficient, thread pitch, and material strength. that being said You can't go wrong by buying yurself a rod bolt stretch gauge as it is far more accurate and better for the bolt.
piston clearence is dictated by the alloy it is made from, and the bore size. MY pistons are made from 2000 series alloy (low silicon) and I run 0.005" You should consult JE for the proper spec on yours. THIS IS ROCKET SCIENCE. follow your manufacturer's spec's and your motor will live a long happy life.
Thanks Baldturbofreak.
I have e-mailed JE and Corrillo, but i wanted to see what the guys on the forum had to say. (sometimes it's much better advice). Thanks for the tip, i didn't think of asking ARP. I will send them a mail now.
