I have an 85 and I'm trying to put these door panels all back together, man I didn't know what a headache these were going to be, I ordered a brand new set of panels, trim, armrests...Question-how do these upper trim mount to the panel (do they require ring nuts or some kind of clip that goes over them-if so--then I don't have any and need some for both doors. 2nd question--is it normal to have a real hard push to close the doors when new weatherstrip was put on? I really have to slam the door to close it right and when I open it, its pretty loud. 3rd question--how do the armrest savers install? I have the midamericas metal ones and I haven't the slightest clue how they go in (are they installed under the arm rest or above it where I can see it/fell it all the time....4th question, approx how far is the space between the inner door seal from touching the actual window when it is rolled up all the way-cause I have some space between mine. I was restoring most everything on my car. I didn't know aftermarket door panels were Not going to be 100% ready to install--I had to make some minor adjustments with the screw holes and other various crevaces to install the armrests...but this car is almost done.........
I have some docs that go thru the whole process of the door panels, trim, arm rests, etc. email me and I'll send them to ya, also, I have tech docs on the window adjustment and door adjustment, after installing all new weather on my 87, i had to adjust the window and door ...

It is a bitch to get on there...
It sounds like you didn't get the top of the panel hooked all the way around the door properly. Check the front of the panel by the circular vent, that should be flush against the door.
You have to be careful positioning the wiring harnesses to keep from interfering with the door handle plastic surround. Once you've got all that in, theres a plastic box that you'll replace with the metal armrest savers. Place it on top of the armrest with the tall side towards the inside of the car and snap em both in place at the same time. You'll know its all in place when you can get those two screws through it into the aluminum ledge on the door.
The savers are a great mod, will really tighten up the door.

Hey, if it's not too big of a deal, I'm suffering the same situation, and was wondering if you could send them to me, as well?
The aftermarket panels need some work to get them to fit.I dont understand the question about the upper trim.If its the black trim at the top of the panel its held on with pal nuts that go on the plastic studs.Ive replaced all the door panels and trim in my car and it was a pain in the *** to get everything to fit.
