I'm in the process of having my engine built for my '85 and I'll be using a FAST system with wideband o2. I've been told that I will need an adapter harness in order for my dash gauges to work. FAST recommended Fast Track Performance, but i've been unable to get in touch with them, phone is out of order and e-mail gets bounced back(was hoping they had a cable modem).
Does anyone know if they are still in business or what the problem is or if a harness is available somewhere else? Their web site shows it was updated 1/20/05.

Gen7 DFI is a bit better for street use, a FTP harness for your car is about $750, that includes a plug in box that the GM harness connects to and also for the DFI or FAST connection. Either system will work but the DFI is a better system. This harness is quite complex and involves a lot of time to do it right. The DFI box will reside in the passenger side rear compartment. Cabling is run under the carpet to the front of the car. You can get a El-cheapo White racing harness that does work. But they couple all the injector wiring together which will never enable you to use sequential mode if you ever want to use it. Also it wreaks havoc on the ECU because they parallel the outputs together. Totally not a wise thing to do from an electronics and or an engineering point of view. Mack has been making some changes, I will try to get ahold of him for you if you are interested in the harness.

I don't think anyone that sells both systems will agree with that statement. FAST is the way to go. Call ASSC Racing at 847-473-4720 and they will give you the straight scoop. They have been direct with DFI, FAST and BS3 from day one and they are in your home state.
I already have a fast system and I am looking for a harness for my 90.
Any leads?
Well, it's been almost a week and Fast Track still hasn't returned my e-mail and I've given up trying to call them, must be out of business or doesn't want any business.
ASSC, http://asscracing.com/ doesn't seem to be interested in selling their jumper harness unless you buy the FAST system from them.
In spite of comments made above I ordered a harness from White Racing, http://whiteracing.com/index.html . I checked with the person that will be doing my tuning (who happens to be very good with electronics) and he had no problems with the issues mentioned in the second post of this thread.
I second what TJ said and speak from personal experience. I have a 408SR in an 85 with the Gen 7 DFI and WB02..it's a very nice system...I have looked at both and the software with the DFI is much easier to understand then the FAST. I also bought the White harness and there's a couple things you need to understand...first, you will loose the Average miles per gallon and instant fuel mileage functionality on the dash with it...I live with it and it's no big deal to me but it might be to you (if it is you need the fasttrack jumper harness and ecu)...second, the DFI needs each injector wired to it's own driver in the DFI or you will overheat the circuit when it's hot outside and you might set a code 71 in the DFI showing the injectors are going static even though they aren't...it's no big deal to fix...the guy who tuned my car is a DFI whiz (as is TJ Wong)..Dave at www.autotrenddiagnostics.com and can set you up with the wiring and connectors you will need to correct the shortcomings of the White Harness....make sure you have someone tune the car with a high end Wide band unit like a Horiba who can put in the correction factor to the DFI as the WB02 sensors are all off out of the box slightly and once the factor is established and entered you're good to go...all in all the system is really good and offers great tuning potential...

Reason: spelling...ooops

Thats really strange, I spoke with Mack earlier this week and just received a harness for another customer in Florida. Good luck with your White harness.

Wow, wish I had known this a week or so ago before I bought a White Racing harness. Do you think you could go into a little more detail for me on what you mean by wreaking havoc on the ECU? An email or post or whatever. I assume you mean the FAST unit. Also, I've only glanced under the hood, but I'm not sure about 2 of the plugs coming off the harness. If anyone thinks they could help me out with that I'd really appreciate it. I've got an O2, CCOM, the 2 FAST plugs, the ECU harness plug, and 2 unknowns. One of the unknowns is a 4 pin plug and the other is a 3 pin plug. I forget the style name. It's the round type that looks the same as the one that goes to the MAP sensor. They definitely won't reach over there though. Thanks for any and all help and I hope I haven't diverted any focus from the original post.
Another thing, Inductionmotorsports.com offers a harness as well. I don't know if it keeps the AVG MPG stuff working or not, but I do know it's not just plug in and go. It splices in and you have to have an injector harness like what comes with the FAST unit. It's only $300. They told me that precision turbo makes the harness. Is anyone familiar with these?

Here's the reply I received from Mac a couple of weeks ago.
Hi Arnie,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. At the current time I am not building any adapters. Health problems are forcing me to sell that portion of my business. If you want to stay in touch, I will direct you to the new owners once the sale has been made. Thank you for your patience. Mac

Mac from Fast Track Performance had his system crash a few weeks ago, that messed up his whole system including his messages. Call him at 707-786-4094. I just spoke to him about building another adapter harness for my next project. I already has a GEN 7 with one of his harness on my 86 Vette with a 434.
with bigstuff3 you do not need a seperate controler and wire harness for the automatic transmission plus you get standard sequential fuel injection at a lower cost.
