Default Got erasers????

Only on corvettes….

I have been chasing down a wiper problem and replaced the motor (twice) and tracked wires for hours. One of the first things I did was to pull the switch and it looked good connections clean ect…
Finally gave in and started just replacing parts. Installed a used wiper switch but before I installed it I use an eraser to clean the contact points. Put in and .. I got wipers again. Just for the hell of it I used the eraser on my old one and put it back in. And guess what? It worked too. After spending a couple hundred and more then a couple hours on it all it was a dirty connection. Like I said it looked clean and tested good. I guess on Vetts you can never assume anything.

Hey I got wipers.. Time to drive it in the rain!!! Not..

Yep!
That's an old electronic/electrical industry tip that works good.

I'll add that it is also good to coat the cleaned connections with dialectric grease to slow down the corrosion of the copper.

Amazing how many faulty devices in this world can be restored to working condition with just a good cleaning and lubricating.

BTW, use caution in putting dielectric grease on contacts. Dielectric grease is an insulator, not a conductor.

Great tip. When I was a kid I raced Aurora HO cars. We built them up naturally, lightening bodies and chassis, gear changes, silver contacts, rewound motors, etc. But when they started running sluggishly, cleaning the pick-ups and the little buttons that connected them to the motor would pick them right up again. Accomplished with an eraser. I'd forgotten about this, thanks for the reminder. I chase electrical gremlins in my work frequently, I'll use this soon I bet!
