Default water pump change

I am in the process of helping by buddy change the water pump on his 95 vette. I was wondering what is the easiest way to bleed the air out of the system . I noticed what looks like an purge on the top of the thermostat housing. Is that for bleeding the air? Thanks in advance.

Yep thats exactly what that is. I have a bit diferent way but have never had a problem with traped air since I started doing it this way.
1. I fill the water pump up with the T-stat removed untill the system is copleatly filled to the point the coolant is to the top of the water pump about to flow over.
2. I install the T-stat and the housing on to the water pump and button the rest of the st=ystem up.
3. loosen the bleed screw and fill untill coolant flows w/o air from the bleeder screw.

Thats my probably over complicated method but it works
