1985... hanging throttle!
My vette has been doing this more and more lately. I'm pretty sure its mechanical, not a vacuum leak or electronic gremlins, since I can duplicate it by feathering the throttle just right. Bumping the throttle brings it back down.
It's gotta be the TB or the cable, but all of it seems to move freely. I'm thinking the vaccuum may be tugging on tb blades and causing them to bind. It hangs around 2400 rpm or so.
Just curious if this is a common occurence, if I need a new TB or..?
Its real common for the throttle shaft to wear out the surface it rides on. It gets sloppy. This keeps the throttle blades from closing properly. Gives an inconcistent throttle return and idle. It can be rebuilt.

Check the drivers side shaft bore. It's probably oval like mine
Unhook your cables one at a time. Mine just happened to be the first one I pulled. The cruise cable.
There is also a bunch of gunk that builds up behind the plates. You might want to get a flashlight, crack the throttle and have a look.
Go through all of the simple fixes before you throw any money at it.
