Default 85: Engine problems? loss of power

I've been having some really wierd problems with my 85 vette. If I go for a short drive park it for around 10 minutes the go back and drive it sometimes it will idle really low and stall, it will keep doing this for a while then it will go away after driving it. When it is having this problem it will hesitates, pops and jerks when excellerating from 1500 to 2500 rpms and then after that the power returns. Any Ideas on what could be causing this. I changed the fuel filter once and it seemed to help for a little while. I went to change it agian but I think it is still good because the gas was really squirting out when I undid it from the drivers side first. I think I might have been getting water in the tank because the drain where the fuel cap is was cloged. Could it be the fuel filter or something else?

question #2
During normal driving (not excellerating) what do you keep your rpm's between?
eg 1000-2000 2000-3000

Clean your throttle body and IAC valve for starters.
I usually cruise around 1800 rpm's

If you think there's some water in the tank, it won't hurt to throw a bottle of drygas in there.

Check to make sure the connection for the MAF are still intact. I read on this forum once that someone's MAF connection was loose and caused some of the symptoms that you're having.

What's the mileage of your car? If it's high, it might be time for new injectors if they haven't yet already been changed.

It could be a faulty fuel pump.

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be the Burn-off box had a bad connection iternally. Everytime it jiggled around the computer would think that the MAF was disconnected.

Try wiggling the connector with the key on, if the box clicks then it has a bad connection.

hope this helps.
