Default M5 vs. ZR-1?

Okay I know this topic might be a little old, but I was at a light, and a Bimmer pulls up next to me, the light turns green. I ease off and I hear this roar next to me. Now I figure out it was an M5. He punched it for a second, then eased off after he figured out I wasn't racing him. After I realized what it was, I followed hoping for a second light, but he pulled off into a parking lot. -not a kill story, but how does an M5 do off the line compared to a Z?

I raced a '01 M5 a couple of months ago in my '90 ZR-1. We ran from 40-135 and I pulled him 4 carlengths or so, enough to see him in my rear view mirror. They are pretty quick for a 4 door car.

If this were my "stock '90" it would've pulled SW's M5 by about 4MPH but run about the same 1/4 time. I'm sure they'd get the jump as nearly everyone does on me if this were the track <heh>. What with 2.2-2.3 ft '60 times. However on the street I probably would've jumped him...got the .5 sec I needed and then it'd be all over

Of course now it's not a fair fight - but if I find him up here I'll beat him up for you Brennan

I saw three M5's that day. The one that revved up his motor sounded pretty loud for a Bimmer. I think if any M5 raced you now Chris, you would find them back at the BMW dealership trying to get their money back!

But I do love those M5's...You can haul more than one other person...real fast

Yep, those and Jag XJR's and E55's. Which is why I have a Lincoln MKVIII... sortof a poor man's version of the M5 (or is it the rich man's version of a Mustang Cobra?...hmmm  )

Just found out that it's gonna cost 265$ to swap that radiator out. That puts this little "accident" at a cool 800$. Should've listened to Nick <g>... but have just had too many projects going on lately (replaced the MKVIII's rotors/pads yesterday - and still have to sandblast everything on the '78 and bolt stuff up).

Heck, I'd have installed it for you. That way I'd get to see the car! Then, of course, there's the obligatory post installation road test where I'd invite myself to ride along...

Nick, if you did that I'd have let you drive it ... provided the proper insurance identification of course

Anyway...we have to go to the track next week before I take off or at least a cruise .

Yeah, I am up for it! Should we do the little trek we did last month? Give Chris's susp a work out...heh...but he should be last or first, so he is not stuck with us slow guys!

I went and looked at his Z this week. And it is awesome...I wish I had my camera to take pics...

I'm up for anything next week. How about a Friday night cruise? Or, we could do a Saturday event too? Let's put it out on the PNW list and see what we get.
I'm definitely out for Sunday the 12th at Seaview Chev.
