Nice score!

How does it feel to have bought a new ZR-1 at a 50% discount!

Please don't abuse it by locking it away in some dark garage. These cars love the road and they can cure a bad day if you let them!

Enjoy her!

It feels almost better than sex! I plan on driving it more than the last owner. I already drove it more than he did the last 15 years.
Thanks to all for the nice welcome to the ZR1 brotherhood.

Regards, Bill

So I'm not the only one who thinks a LT5 pulls like my old L76.

Of course the Beast does it without all that solid lifter noise!

GREAT Buy! Are those the OEM tires on the car? If they are you might want to start your MODs with new rubber and keep the old tires for the NCRS bunch.

Congrats Bill, we don't have many in NE and mine just left the state today and is being delivered to it's new owner tomorrow ... but you picked one up so I guess we're a net 0 for the month.

Anyway, welcome to the 'hood!

Hello Peaven, I didn't see that you were from Omaha until just now. Sorry you sold your car, but if your like me, it won't take long before you have another.

Yes, they are the factory originals and in like new condition. No dry rot or cracks anywhere. I may change them out or keep running them. I guess it would be a good idea to have them new for judging. I never did the Bloomington and NCRS thing before. Isn't that just for the old cars?

Bill,

Tires over 6 years old should be replaced regardless of use (low miles). The ability of the rubber to "heat-cycle" as they age goes way down.

Since your car has the OEM tires a great idea would be to pull those wheels and tires off as keepers for judging. Just keep them mounted and put them on for shows. Bloomington & the NCRS are now open for earlier ZR-1s.

For driving go on ebay and buy some reproduction ZR-1 rims and put whatever tires on them that you want.....

..... and then burn them down!

Thanks for the advice. Are you stationed at Fort Campbell? I was there in 1979.

Bill,

I was at Campbell a couple of years ago. In 79 I was at Bragg. I'm currently in my final assignment prior to retirement.

BTW...., I also like the Winchester Model 1876 (win1876).

Bill, NCRS has been looking at the 90-91s for a couple of years, you could easily go for top flight or even survivior that would be sweet.

You are right on target. I have a beautiful Winchester 1876 in 45/60 caliber. Pistol grip checkered deluxe with 3xxx wood, set trigger and case hardened finish. Made in 1882. Let me know if you would like to see a picture of it.

Here is a link to it. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/MVC-833F.jpg

NICE.

We're both "Car Crazy Gun Nuts!"

Looks like you also have some nice samples of early Tip-Up and Top-Break S&Ws.

I have mostly Colts and Winchesters, with a few Smiths and some WW1 1911's. I think us ex Army guys have a lot of the same interests.

It is absolutely bone stock, the guy that bought it paid 10K over sticker in 1991, drove it for 3 months and basically built a shrine garage around it after that. I drove my first Z (a pristine red/red-black 90) home yesterday! It has been sitting for a looooong time - 35k on the clock is all and it is going to need some cleaning and polishing and new filters/liquids, etc, etc.

Man... I still can't believe I have one sitting in MY garage!! Incredible, aren't they??? I'll post some pics in a few days after I return home from a w/e trip (not in the car, however...).
