My Bonneville Project up date

We shut down at the 4 mile mark at 214 with a lean backfire. The Car pulled hard, even with a very loose track, we ran 200 at the 2.25 mile mark, which bested last years 198. I drove ok all in all was probably too hard early in 1 st, and late in getting totaly on the wood in second. shifted at 8,000 2-3, 3-4. But the car was really loose so I short shifted to 5 th at 210 and 7500 RPM. It was pulling from 6800 when a loud backfire, caused me to hit the chute and aborted. So tomorrow we will try again, adding some fuel. I am confident we will do better in the cool morning rather as today the density altitude was 6900 feet

Are these stock timing chains, these usually come apart at 8K, is it a Corey Secret????

Well:
Dad was out there over the weekend. Evidently, they made another run yesterday and shut it down again, this time at @200. Just can't seem to get enough fuel to prevent it from going lean. I don't want to say anymore, as that's the extent of my knowledge. Sure hope they don't burn a hole in a piston!

We made our first full run today, we ran 206 in the 2.25 mile trap, and averaged 224 over the last mile, still pulling hard out the back end.
had a density altitude of 7400' today, so it was very tough conditions.
so yipee , we bested last years, 219 team record. The electic water pump is having a hard time delivering what we need under the load of running hard for 3 mins.
tomorrow we will run in the morning, with some cool air. And a few tweeks to the tune, and setup of the car. Keep in mind to average 224 over the mile, we probably went in the last mile at 220 and out at 228 or so, Its all about the front end, we have to be at 210 -215 at the 2.25 mark to achieve our goal of average speed over a mile of 230.5
Cam, chains, Hmm, well they are stock, and have a total of 20 or more runs on them. Currently we are shifting at 7800-8000 and they are holding up so far. Maybe its good karma, who knows, but it probably that they are being loaded at a slow but continous rate.

That is not true. Above 8000 rpm, the stock chains are not as reliable when run for extended periods. Having said that, it would take many minutes of over 8K running to cause the chains to fail.

today, Crew Chief Rick Harden, got his A licence by besting my speed of 225, with a 226, and a 5.25 mile exit speed of 227 mph. wahoo Team ZR1 is only 4 mph off the record

Given the conditions, think you can make the return trip?
