How about a light weight 7.25 inch Dual disc clutch for that LT5 ?

Interesting enough this was the Dolly Varden straight about 30 miles west of Wendover at appox. the same altitude as the salt. This is also on pavement which has somewhere 25-30% less rolling resistance. I have a buddy offically radar clocked at 227mph and said he saw 232mph once again on pavement. He has 850rwhp. Now I will grant you that my wing will cost me some top speed, my buddy also has the same wing on his. Once again I am not trying to discourage you, but passing on info from some one who has been in simular shoes.

I don’t think I can “legally” post the whole article, but here are the graph results.
Data seams to be taken at 85 mph, and “Passengers” means they placed weight in the seats.

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...8new/aero2.jpg

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...8new/aero3.jpg

I put their CDA, Lift/Drag Ratio, and % Front Lift, into a spreadsheet and calculated values up to 200 mph.
Just did the base model coupes, with passengers.
Keep in mind this is just Aerodynamic Drag (from the data) and no rolling resistance.

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...8new/aero4.jpg

And front and rear lift, again from their data.

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...8new/aero5.jpg

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...8new/aero6.jpg

Interesting stuff, if the data is believable?
The C5 has the lowest drag.
The C4 & C3 have the lowest rear Lift, even lower than the C6?
Look how high the C4 drag coeff is 0.371 ?

Anyway, hope this is interesting..

Dave,

I was talking to Corey earlier in the week, and this truly sounds like an amazing project. Best of luck with everything, and I'll be watching the thread closely!

Where in TX do you live?

Regards,

Sanjay

Does the class you're running in not allow you to use forced induction?

Artic, naturally aspirated, class. I am building a modifed Naca scoop

for the intake, I just cut the hole yesterday. I have a lot of work to do to fab the floor that the hood will close on.

max opening will be 3.5 by 13, vs the throttle body of 3 by 8. I made it bigger to compensate for the location on less than wetted surface.

It will be a 11 degree ramp to the radiator shroud. The opening will be about 2" high as it go's over the radiator shroud, then it will drop down to 3.5 in the last 4 inch's. I am hoping that the curved drop will increase the velocity as the air travels the longer curved surface.

Hey I need a samco air boot, or anything like one, anybody?

I will have to cut it as my distance to the throttle body to scoop duct will only be 4 inch's.

Then it sounds like I have one you can have. I cut mine too short and it is now useless to me. It is black.

This is the one from the air filter housing to the throttle body.

If you want it, PM your info and I will get it sent out tomorrow or the next day.

not for an lt5 but it would be pretty ez to fab them up from the stock mounts as a pattern.

never seen a motor plate either.

love the scoop that is low drag and should let the beast feast

Sanjay, I live in Conroe, you should drop by and check out the car. Its at Superior sheetmetal, having the bottom of the scoop made.

Then its off to Muscle Car Garage to finish the hood work and a quick
sand, base coat, and then clear coat laid on thick to fill all the body seams ( cant use speed tape but whos says I can't be a crappy painter)

below is the basic dust pan being fabbed in tin then in alum.

it has to fit in this opening:

Brian, I tried to get a ruling for a lic. plate intake and was turned down.

only the hood can be modifed, figure that, but thats the rules.

untill you design one that it is wide open, does one realize how poor the stock one is. Opening up the lic. is a huge improvement as the stock location has the airfilter in a static compartment.

You will have the hood duct connect right to the tb extension? That would be cool, though how will you connect it and close the hood?

The metal tray will be connected to the throttle body and the Hood will close down on top and seal to the underside of the Hood. Kind of like a shaker hood without the shaking LOL. I should have some clear pictures of the design pretty quick.

I have had the wheels on and off so much that all the locks ended up on this one LOL.

This is a very cool and interesting project...looks like a fair bit of engineering and fabrication going into it. Keep the pics and updates comming.

This is a great project, and great information. The "contrary's" are interesting (more weight = higher top speed, a wing can reduce top speed, etc.). Love it.

I think we all ponder our own cars going down the road at these speeds, and wonder "what if". I have gone over the 190 mark in mine, but that extra 10-20-30 must be really so much different. I once had 930 Porsche with a 4 spd that felt at home just over 170...and didn't bust my eardrums or shake me apart. Very different ride...and less than 300hp. Then, I see some of those "big body" 60's and 70's sedans that are set up to hit the 200+ mark and it makes me cringe. I guess it's all about how it's done.
