Any ideas/help?
If this is the jobber bolted to the underside of the plenum check to make sure it plugged in correctly or that one of the pins wasnt bent while being plugged in.Who did the work on the car?Getting the plugs connected are a pain in the a$$,awkward because of no room and delicate because you dont want to bend the pins. The spark module starts at $700 and goes up from there. If this was fine before the car came apart I would venture to say its not hooked up correctly.
They either unplugged or broke the connector as it is under the plenum like Jeff states. Before I do anything I would unhook the battery wait 30 secs and plug it back in and then make sure all the codes are cleared before Id pull that plenum again. THe ECM is a likke quirky. GC
Heres a pic of that module on the underside of the plenum

You need to check (4) connectors to make sure they are not damage and fully seated>
There are two front connectors...when looking under the plenum (this view if front to rear) they look like this (red arrows)>>>
Then there are two rear connectors... one is a clip on style and one is push on with a 1/4" bolt>>
The front two connectors are fairly easy to install and snap into place...they have different style connectors so there is no way to get them reversed. Now the rear two connectors are more difficult to install and you really need to wiggle them firmly into place.
Corvette service here has check connectors and pins. I did talk there last time today at phone. He has done diagnostics of shop manual and it looks like bad DIS module. Battery has been disconnected for night, but code 42 comes back. Also this shop told me that its really uncommon that DIS module is broken. I had one SES code before when car start run bad after car wash, it run really rough and got code. I dont know what code was and it got away.. Now at service after fuel injectors change code is back again
Anyone has extra DIS module that I could try/buy..
Post this on http://www.zr1netregistry.com/forum/...ysprune=-1&f=9 (ZR-1 Net Registry). Marc Hiabeck told me he rarely sees a DIS failure, under normal circumstances. However, he went on to say that if the heat sink zinc oxide (white goop) is not used, or if some debris or sand gets between the DIS and the mating surface on the plenum, then he has seen that situation result in DIS failure in very short order!
I just bought a DIS module from him as I am having the same DTC42 on my 90.
In the same vein, Paul does Mr Haibeck say if we should use something like the paste that is used to bed PC processors to the heat sink? The FSM says to use dielectric grease. Now I'm wondering what to use when I replace my DIS.
I have new fuel injectors from Jon, DIS module changed and new spark plugs..
Car runs bad when its cold, it run rough and I can feel vibration.
Its gets better when engine is warm, service talk something about closed/open loop.
Today engine did die two times.. I couldnt start it.. I had to wait some time before it start... I think spark plugs got wet of fuel.
Service guy here says that Jon did send me wrong injectors and those are way too big for my car.. Jon says that it isnt true and injectors are same as orginal.. I go nuts..
I have now used 1500 euros.. Car still doesnt work.. I dont know what to do..
Those havent been changed yet.. Soon every other part has..
Thats what I would try next. Its not so much the mileage as it is the time on the coils. Suggest replacing with regualr Delco coil. There are others out there but the Delcos will work fine. How amny miles are on the car?
I'll say this again and hopefully you will get resolution, IF you have code 42 still, your ECM is the problem, an intermitent faulty ground inside the ECM.
- No SES active code.
- Run bad when cold.
- I think it run too rich, course engine die two times, couldnt start after it, maybe after 5-10min it did start again, maybe plugs got wet.
If its about open/closed loop.. Why it does better when warm.. I didnt check temp, but at cold I can feel vibrate and rough running.
It does enter to closed/open loop when engine get warmer? Could it still be bad coil?
