I've been talking with Hal there extensively about this car. A few descriptive highlights in Hal's words:

1. Hal says that this would be a good "project car" (whatever that means)
2. Clutch is almost gone
3. Antenna mast is inop
4. Definitely needs 4 new tires (fronts are new, but incorrect size. rears are bald)
5. Paint on rear deck area is faded
6. A/C works good

He also said that the lot owner would rather me to fly up there and inspect the car personally before he would be comfortable selling it and shipping to Texas. I'm still going back and forth with them. Good price though. Maybe you should jump on it before I do!

$12K for a 405HP car is an absolute steal! Unless the car has serious mechanical issues, the car should be worth significantly more than advertised.

For 12k you could almost part it out and make $. I would have a good look and maybe take a chance if I was in the market. If you picked that up for 11k, put 5k into it, (providing it needs nothing major) and you have one hell of a nice car. I think alot of these higher mileage, semi abused cars are going to be popular for guys that want something to play with and restore.

Thats a good amount of stuff to be fixed but then again I'm not looking for a garage queen

Doesn't the single acceleration cable make the car a 405HP car and thus a '93?

All years have a single accelerator cable, the '92-'95s have ASR and together with the seats ('90-'93) makes this a '92 or '93. If it's a '93, it is a rare one since there weren't many dark red metallics made due to the 40th ruby red color. I'm guessing it's a '92 since the wheels look painted...the '93 has machined wheels with a clear coat.

There were no "polished" wheels from the factory for the ZR-1. They were either painted or machined with a clear coat.

Actually, the non-ASR cars have two cables, one for accelerator and cruise control, I think. I have pictures and I have seen them. The ASR cars only have the one cable on top. I think that it is a 92 but the 93 looks alike. The only real difference is the PKE, 405 hp and the EGR on the engine. I have a 92 and it looks just like it. Need the VIN #.

If anyone is really interested and needs somebody to look at this, let me know.

It's about a 2 to 2.5hr trip and would be happy to do it for a Z brother!

David, that would be fantastic if you could inspect this car for me. We are down to talking serious numbers- I'm looking to trade him my X5 for the Z. I really would rather not spend the cash to fly to PA if I don't have to. Having a Z brother look at it might just close the deal if it turns out to be a decent car. LMK, thanks!

Ok, I see now...he was talking about at the throttle body. You're correct, the non-ASR cars have two cables at the throttle body. Thanks for clarifying it for me.
