Default Need square tip zr1 exhaust system

Well, it's to the point that I will need exhaust soon for my 88 prototype. I'm not sure how many years the exhaust tips were square but I need the exhaust to look like a 1990, anyway.

Does anyone have a take-off system that they want to sell? If so, location is a plus. I'm in Indy and can pickup if it's not too far away.

Thanks

It's unlikely they have some nowadays, but at one point, LPE (in Decatur, pretty close to you) had many take off ZR-1 exhaust systems. May want to speak with Graham B. on the subject.

You can have the stock exhaust off my 95 if it helps...not sure it's what you need, but the price is right. Just can't ship it.

That's one heck of an offer. I think your exhaust tips aer the later style?????? Are they the four individual square tips?

Thanks

LT1 style is later year ZR-1 ehaust tips. If I remember correct, LT1 was introduced in 1992 and sported a single rectangular tips which were shared with 92 and later ZR-1s.
Prior to this, ZR-1s has twin rectagular tips - 1990 and 1991.

Vette Daddy,
Ebay has a complete 1990 ehaust. I don't know if you want to spend for the whole system but just in case, its item number 220731808498.

you might give Haibeck a call / email. He installs headers and it only figures he may have some OEM laying around.

Default exhaust

I have mine that was taken off my 1990 with only 12,000 miles. It is being stored in a friends garage. The problem is I live in Virginia. You are welcome to it. It is in excellent shape.
Mike
I have no idea of how to get it to you.

Where are you located in VA? I may be able to come and get it. I have another offered in South GA. You may be a bit closer unless the GA one can ship it. I normally get exhaust from Corvette Central for restorations. They just wrap the muffers in cardboard and ship UPS. I am willing to pay you for your time and cost in shipping to IN.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE

I just received a complete system form a ZR1 brother in Chicago.

I keep saying it....this ZR1 group is absolutely the best group of guys to help each other.

I hope to meet as many of you as possible this year at BG where I'll unveil my 88 Proptotype.

Default exhaust

Brett, glad it worked out. I have had a lot of Zr-1 folks help me out when I was in a pinch. I admire all of the effort you are making in this restoration project. A true piece of corvette history. Good luck.

Thanks. Mike. Your offer was appreciated more than you can imagine.

I'm really enjoying bringing this one back to life. The hard part's done. It's now ready for it's new coat of 20U blue paint. In a couple of weeks, I'll paint it and begin assembling the interior. The PhaseII LT5 is almost complete.

April will be a busy month, to say the least.

if i recall the prototypes and some very early 1990 c4 zr-1s had the square tips with the smaller muffler cans like the l98. later model 1990
zr-1s had bigger muffler cans. for your prototype you would need the smaller mufflers with the square tip to be 100%. intersting project

That's good information to think about. I apprecaite it. For now, I think I'll just go with the stock 90-91 system. Maybe later, I'll buy the smaller mufflers and change the tips.

Thanks again!
