Default need help spring code

looking for spring code (2 or 3 ltrs?) on rear spring for 1994 & 1995
zr-1 . if any one has their build sheet for either zr-1 look at the
build sheet at front spring and rear spring codes.
The spring rates for 1994 &1995 zr-1's are 75.4 front and 33.0 for
the rear spring rate. This is from the 1984 -1996 suspension chart
that Hib posted. on my 1990 the front code is AA and rear is NYR

Thanks

Default spring codes

Glass slipper,

Thanks for the information. Now i can cross ref the codes with the
1984-1996 suspension chart. It looks like i need to find a spring with
the code of RHZ, which on the suspension chart should be a 1996
with RPO (coupe) FE1. the chart shows that the rear spring should be
26.0 Nm.
I'm going to a corvette parts yard that has a pile of springs and they
don't know what they are or which car they came from?

Thanks

Maybe you can print off the two links I posted and give them to the parts yard so they can label all of the springs and help out future Corvette owners.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you looking for the '96 FE1 spring in particular? It's the softest rear spring they ever made which means it'll ride like a Cadillac...great if that's what you're looking for. I know my 33 N/mm rear spring gives a fantastic cruising ride and I've driven all day arriving feeling better than when I started. There's a lot to be said for soft springs.

PS Where is the Corvette parts yard? I live in FL too and love going to junk yards.

Default rear spring code

Ok a little back ground. I drag race my car, last year in april it
ran 11.58 @119.70 with a 60ft time of 1.75. after coming back from BG
about a month later i broke my 700r4 full manual trans. (3rd one since
Aug 2004)
So in june i installed a 4l80e trans in my car to handle the power. Well
while bench racing at a local car (hooters ) buddy had a viedo of my car leaving the line and showed it to a gm tech. He said man that car does not squat down when you leave the line. You should rpl your rear spring with a softer one. That's why i have been looking for information on the codes for springs.
Well on may 22 this year i broke my posi unit after (112xxx miles and 20 years old). As long as i have to remove the rear end i might as well rpl the spring. So race it. brake it, fix it then start over.

the corvette parts are Brads vette parts in ft lauderdale. phone 954-564-0808

Thanks for the help

Without going into a lot of theory, your buddy's friend who's a gm tech doesn't have a clue. You don't want the rear to squat when you leave the line, in fact, quite the opposite...you want it to rise in order to plant the tires. The stock rear suspension has anti-squat built into it which is why you won't see it squat so a softer spring won't do anything for you. The older C2/C3 rear suspension has zero anti-squat because it has a single trailing arm which is why you see them squat when you hit the gas going forward and rise when going in reverse...the spring is the only thing resisting torque reactions. The two trailing links on the C4 are set at an angle to provide anti-squat...if you want more "bite" coming off the line, reposition the forward attachment points to increase anti-squat. DRM has a bracket that'll work and he's a forum vendor...just be aware it'll give you a rougher ride.

Do a google/yahoo search on "drag racing anti squat" and you'll find more than you ever dreamed of.
