Default moduals on zr1 c-4

If a sensor is changed does the computer on the car accept it ? or does it need to be programmed in?

These early systems are not that sophisticated. Changing sensors should not affect to computer modules. However it wouldn't be the first time a "new" sensor was defective. And then, some sensors, like the throttle position sensor requires proper adjustment after installation. So there are some variables.

Are there any readings I can make on the map sensor before installing?
