Default what is a 93 motor worth

Curious what a zero mile crate motor that was installed in a vette is worth that has not driven, only been started. That is with full assessories. What are the transmissions worth? Any insight is appreciated.

What does it cost new minus some depreciation and not having a warranty is what it is worth. Then again the market will dictate what people are willing to pay.

LT5 crate motors wouldnt have a warranty in this era regardless. My question is geared towards LT5 guys that understand the worth of these motors depending on condition and assesories. Average market values on LT5's are not readily available today.

Correct, but this is a ZR-1 forum. That is a good find, I doubt that manual will serve any purpose with an LT5 though , I was thinking 4500.00 or there abouts, wanted some LT5 guru input. thanks fir the help.

Personally I would think an LT5 like yours would be worth roughly what it costs for an average LT5 rebuild. Most want original #s so a rebuild(and possible mods) would be first choice but a cracked block would require a new engine, etc. I thought $7500 was a bit steep for an engine that has been in storage for decades. It would probably need a refresh before use which might bring price over $9k.$4500 seems reasonable IMO.

A zero mile LT5 would have me getting in touch with Jerry Downey (aka Jerry's Gaskets), and pay whatever he wants; not like looking for a gen-1 OR even a gen-II SBC.

If I were looking to buy, and I have thought about buying a used one from time to time, $5000 as a base price used seems about right and +/- depending on what (if any) parts were needed to bring in into spec.

Now, if it had a Bryant stroker billet crank, some porting, and other goodies...$10k would be the steal of the century!

Just not a lot of them on the market to establish a market trend. When an opportunity presents...it's a seller's market.

Agreed Paul, I have an idea what my 368 is worth simply because I paid for every penny of it, but stock motors have been seen aaround and prices all over the place. The reason I ask is a project car that has either the potential to be fixed or parted out, the chassis is 100,000+ mile 90, motor is technically new and according to paperwork in a 93 service motor. I guess at the end of the day it really boils down to dollars and cents like everything else.

That looks like a 1990 motor not 1993, just based on the coolant pipes and Emblem

Agree, not a 93+ engine. Note on the LH (driver side) the black plastic pipe that runs from PCV top connector in rear to plenum vacuum & the metal coolant pipe side of plenum to coolant behind T/B. Both of these feature are more consistent with an 89 version.

Makes one question whether this is a legitimate offering.

sheesh, a stroker crank alone is worth 5k and that's just downright wrong and incorrect first time I heard that I said

"what's it made out of? unobtanium?"

but then I got a bit deeper into building race engines and learned windberg and other high end billet cranks can nudge up to 4k

our cranks are still outrageous due to the low numbers

I once tried to muster a "group buy" yea right you save 500 per crank and have to fine 20 people ready to build a stroker

there just ain't that many of them

I think the stock crank is just dandy, we need more head flow and more rpms to make the lt5 more of a budget build

not 5k cranks and 20k blocks to get started

I would say an LT5 would go for between $5-$7500. The engine in the listing is too questionable for me.

at carlise I saw a few folks trying to get 10k, but I think the sweet spot is around 7k for a good deal

if the engine has been cared for, and turns over nicely, I wouldn't hesitate

there was a storage booth "barn find" for 1100, I nearly fainted.

brand new crate someone could hear run Id think at least 5k al day

Guy that bought my Z pickedup the spare motor (90 with around 5k)
think he got 3800 for it on ebay..shame. Planned on stroking the Lt5 but with divorce, loss of everything else he had to fire sale it.

Had i had the extra dough Id have bought it back stroked it and put it in my Camino.

I would buy 10 brand new crate engines for that price & wouldn't have to hear it run.

I saw your cat when it was listed for sale a while back. Looks like it was as advertised, that is great!
There are a couple of motors and Trans together with 18k an 40?k for 6500 each asking price.
Good luck
Shawn
