Default First time to drag strip with ZR-1, 12.6 @ 117.99

60 foot - 2.16
1/8 mile - 8.35 @ 90.8
1/4 mile -12.63 @ 117.99

First time out with the ZR-1, I've only had the car a few weeks. The car has a DRM 475 HP package, but is still using the stock exhaust manifolds instead of the headers that normally come with that package. The DRM work was done about 20 years ago. A few years ago Marc Haibeck looked the car over and fixed a variety of issues, and installed a newer computer chip. The bulk of the mods are:

-ported plenum and injector housing
-ported intake ports on cylinder heads
-larger intake cams

It's still using the stock exhaust manifolds, so I'm sure that is handicapping the porting and intake cams to some degree.

The car made 365 RWHP on DRM's dynojet 248 in 2001.

I was beyond pleased with the car today. My lack of ability as a driver is pretty apparent in the 60 foot time and the large disparity between ET and MPH, but I was happy as could be with the cars performance. The car is something of a family heirloom, and while I wasn't Sunday driving the car, I wasn't beating it to death either. I honestly think the car would have gone 12.30 @ 120 if I'd asked it to. I feel like a little more aggressive launch, and holding each gear until 7000-7100 would cut a fair amount from the ET. I might decide to beat on it to a greater extent later, but for now I'm more than content with what the car achieved.

Just had an awesome time, and was amazed at the MPH the car turned; so I wanted to share.

Thanks!

with 2.1 60 ft, 118 almost, probably about 420 RWHP, or aprox 500 @ crank

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Here's some video of the day at the dragstrip - both in and out of car. You can thank my ace cameraman for the distorted sideways portion of the video; he was absent on "Turn your phone sideways to shoot video" day at film school.

Nicely done--especially for a non-header car.

7100? You should try closer to 7200-7300, if your chip has that RPM limit in it. These things love high RPM... Get headers & go ~7500 ;-)

Great-looking car!

The limiter in the chip is 7100 I think. I tapped the limiter on the 3rd pass, right at the stripe, in third gear. On the next pass I went ahead and pulled 4th gear, and it picked up 2 MPH or so.

with a non header car I think you might improve your time shifting at 6500 .that's what I found out work best for me beforei got headers. even after I got headers I got my best time 12.10@119.47 shifting first to second @6900 and second to third @ 6600 and went through the lights in third . video on utube under Bradley taylors zr1
