Found it when I dropped the spare to check the PSI, what was this tire bag for???? enclosed picture showing how dirty it was, may have been there since new considering the condition it was in.

Looks like an original spare tire. The bag is for the spare tire for ZR-1 when it was flat and you put it in the back after taking it off.

That bag is for the tire you removed when you put the spare on, so that when you put it in the rear hatch area, you didn't dirty up that whole space.

More specifically, the bag is for the rear tire of the ZR-1 and Grand Sport which is then placed in the rear cargo area. All other tire sizes of all models of the Corvette will fit in the spare tire carrier. The owner's manual has the details...if the car didn't come with one, you can order a copy online.

It should also have the straps in the bag to tie the tire/rim down in the back of the hatch. You have some tie down mounts in the car and that's what they are for, check that owners manual.

On earlier ZR1'S the bag is placed next to the jack which is also in the spare . They marked the tire with ZR spare from the factory . The bag will clean up . I cleaned everything being careful not to remove the markings .
