Default 1986 Pace Car convertible. worth????

I attended a Corvette show today at the local Chevy dealer. I came across 70+ year old fella that said he wanted to sell his Corvette. It turned out to be a 1986 Pace Car convertible with all the graphics, always garaged, never driven in the rain, (and it showed) with all options. It has 22,700 original miles! The car is totally flawless. He told me he had wanted $20k Im clueless as to the value of the C4 Vettes. The car runs like a clock. The inside is like it is still in the showroom and the exterior is without a chip or scratch. New tires because of the age of the originals. He said that the top has only been up about 3 times that he could remember because it only gets driven on a nice sunny day. The only night it spent outside was the day he had it transported from Orange County Calif to Oregon, via truck trailer transport.
Anyway, I really wasn't in the market today for another Vette but this car really got my blood pumping
Any buff's out there that has a good idea about what the value of a ultra clean low mileage Pace Car should be???

My thought is, buy it, if the wife freaks out because I have another Vette in the garage, flip it for an extra few $$$$...

Thanks in advance!

average retail is 15k. Personally I enjoy looking at the pace cars but would feel funny driving something with all those graphics.

As a collectible, with the low mileage, it's probably worth the $20K.

But... that same $$$ will buy a good-condition ZR1 or early C5, so that Pacer is going to have a pretty limited audience - imho, it won't be easy to "flip" it for a profit.

Im in the market for an automatic, not a stick (I have a bad left hip). Yours is across the country and this one is across the highway.
Its a very clean and nice looking Vert. Looks like it did on the showroom floor.

Every 86 vert was a "Pace Car" and came with the decals.

22k is too many miles for a real collector to be interested.

So it's just another low miles C4 which is worth not much.

I agree with Maui. Miles are getting up there for a collectable and just my opinion, flipping it for extra $$$ is going to be tough.

He's dreaming if he thinks he's gonna get $20k for it. I've got basically the same car with less miles, under 21,000 miles, and I'd be lucky to get $15k to $16k for it. If you really like the car offer $15k and see what he says.

If there was an easy way to post a picture, I would. How about a suggestion on how to do it.

Default Pace Car

Listen to what these guys are saying, esp the guy who has the same car. This old guy is playing dumb (dumb like a fox). I say offer him
12.5K and I bet he takes it.

One of the easiest ways is to just ask. Just put up a post asking for help in posting the pictures. Someone will chime in a show you the way.

Heck, I'd be interested unless he was shooting for the moon in the price department.

Jake

So it's just another low miles C4 which is worth not much.
So what would you think is maximum "collector value" mileage on these?
I have a black one like this with 4500 miles that I'm considering selling as well.
Just not sure what kind of mileage Corvette collectors are looking for...
I'm a Mopar guy mostly, and about the only thing I know about Corvettes, is what I get from this forum!
That might be a scary thought, now that I think about it.......lol
