how reliable are the LT5 with over 100k on them? assuming it would be a bear to have it fixed IF something were to go wrong. BTW it is a sweet car!!!

You'll have to take it from the owners who have higher mileage. My experience matches the others who have related their experience over the past few years...that these engines are as tough as anything ever built (probably tougher for a non-race or non-commercial vehicle). Of course, you have to take care of them...but most ZR-1 owners (at least the ones who participate here) are very particular about basic maintenence.

I took mine out last night (4 AM) to get some excersize. It hadn't been started in weeks: fired right up, idled smooth, ran smooth, no noises or problems, ran about a half dozen 2nd gear rolling WOT bursts to 6500 rpms to clean the secondaries, checked all the lights, a/c, and other components. It was great...even nicer than I remembered from the last outing. The only challenge is stopping the rear wheels from breaking loose at 45 mph in second gear when just pushing the throttle firmly.

I stopped for groceries on the way back in and as always had to answer questions from admirers (even at 5AM). I get that from all ages and anywhere people recognize the ZR-1 symbols. Of course, the all black at night is quite striking...kind of a "Darth Vader" look. It's outings like this that make me want to keep the car no matter what (even if it means doubling my pain meds from the aftermath of gripping everything so tightly).

It makes me fall in love all over again with the power and speed and what the car is all about.

Default have you tried embrel?

Not sure I spelled it right but I had a girlfriend who was on it and it cured all her symptoms. It isn't good for your immune system though. She died of pnemonia at 43 years old. She was an alcoholic though and that may have been more why she died than the embrel. I saw pictures of her before I knew her and her hands were swollen noticeably. Whe she was with me from april of 2005 til she passed in Jan 26 of 2006. Not sure her death will disway you from checking into that treatment. Have to ask your doctor and if you do choose to get on it (has to be self injected) you need to get on antibiotics should you get any kind of cold etc.

I'm gonna see my rheumatologist tomorrow (my bad "numbers" were way up with the most recent blood tests) and I'll ask him about Enbrel. I don't mind sticking myself as long as it works. Every time I drive the Z it makes my hands and feet hurt so I just don't do it anymore. I'm not renewing the registration this month I guess.

Interesting proposition. Lemme do some thinking on it. It's a great car...wish I could be enjoying it now while the weather isn't 110.

In no hurry. I read your posts about "if you are interested in vettes you will act on this now", and I have come up with a creative way to move the car. If it doesn't happen, then ok. But I'm not going to bug u about it. Hmmmm maybe I should......................

JUST HAD INTERIOR DETAILED AND SHAMPOOED.

And, my son cleaned and oiled the front hubs so they don't get that oxidation anymore.

Still sittin' here being babied and driven lightly. My insurance company must think these are still appreciating because they keep raising my coverage...and the Barrett-Jackson results sure didn't hurt any. I would do something to make it more desireable, but other than repainting it I can't think of anything. A repaint would make it look a little better, but then I'd have to worry about some d.a.'s door or those little rocks that fly up when I'm doin' ....ummmm, I won't say how fast...on our great Nevada highways.

Showy is fine, but totally driveable is better by far.

Very nice car.
Sorry to hear about the health issues, horrible way to have to sell a car.
Good luck!

Still a great Z to drive...especially in this weather.

Still waiting for a new owner and a righteous offer.

Thanks, Red.

It's sad that this amazing car can't get to a good home where it can be excercised properly...and regularly.

Replaced injectors and oil pressure sender 10/10; battery 8/10.

Looking at possible fuel pump issue (see thread), but will replace if that's what it is before sending it off.

$13,500......or?
