Default What are 98 coupes going for?

I been offered between $24,000-$26,000 in trade-in for my torch red 98 6-speed coupe. What are people paying for these things private party? I had hoped to get $30,000 for it. It has dual-zone A/c, dual sport seats, Bose CD, 27,000 miles, GMPP warranty till 75,000 miles or May 2004. THIS CAR IS FLAWLESS! Anybody interested? Am I way off on price?

low-to-mid $20s. Sorry. It's going to get worse due to the winter and to the special financing on new C5s.

Sold my 98 Coupe for 34500.00 Was trying to get 36 for it but no go... Depends on your location and market for a Corvette.. Advertise it a a Graduation Special at all the local schools and post pictures... Maby some young student will pressure mom and dad to take a close look at it for consideration.. Good luck.... BTW, my 98 would outperform my current 2000.... Kinda sorry I went for the upgrade.... just to get the HUD and a few other goodies.. :D

Same here. Last weekend i went to a local dealer and they offered me 26,000 for my 98coupe A4 with all other options 18500mi. They would only give 2000 off sticker. They are advertising their cars for 32,000. I will wait until 03 or keep getting a few more mods.

Douglas- What do you mean your 98 outperformed your 2000? I knew the 98's had bigger fuel injectors and possibly responded better to air intake mods, but I wasn't aware of any stock differences in performance between 98 and 2000s. Just curious, I certainly wouldn't want to spend $15,000 to lose performance.

Probably had mods on the 98

Same here.. Decided to keep my 98 rather than 'dump it' to upgrade.. Especially since I've had ZERO problems in 28K miles! No oil burn, no column lock, no rattles, no rocking seats, etc..

I do see well-equiped MN6 98 coupes still selling in the mid-30's here in S. Cal.

For thoes of you who asked..... I eithor had a strong 98 or a weak 2000... I didn't have any mods on the 98 except for the Corsa's... My 2000 has Borla's.. At fist, I blamed the weakness of the 2000 on lack of milage but have now acquired the same milage as I had on my 98... Don't get me wrong, the 2000 is a strong car that will get your attention but the 98 just had more umph from the get-go... Engine was probably a little better balanced... :yesnod:

I would've never upgraded from my 97 to a 99 but the temptation of HUD and Active handling got me to. Well IMO Active handling is a joke but the hud is cool. I also am very happy with black even though it is a Pain in the butt. I traded my 97 in with 48k miles and got $26.5k :D

I woudln't buy one without active handling, love competitive driving mode. I see 98 going for anywhere from 28900 (with high miles 40k +) to 33500 asking price mint low miles. realisitcally, they seem to go right around 30k so trade you gotta figure mid twenties depending on shape/miles of your car and tires, what work the dealer may have to put into it and well enough margin that he can cover his butt with winter coming if it doesn't sell.

I posted my 98 coupe on the forum last Wednesday for $29k OBO, and have only had 2 contacts about it. It has dual zone, memory, A4, 3:42's, new tires, chrome wheels, and 33K miles on it. It's a beaut! Guess I'll keep it though.

I thought that I needed a 2002 convertible so I took my '98 to the dealers in the area for a trade. I would have accepted between $33K and $35K for mine and expected a $5k discount for a new one. Wow! I was offered $30K from the dealer that I purchased it from, 6 months ago, which is $10K less than what I paid and they were taking the same discount, $2K, for a 2001 as for a 2002. Dealers seem to think that they are the only people allowed to make a profit on the sale of a car. The rest of us are just supposed to take a loss, and be happy about it! The excuse is that GM's financing has lowered the value of used corvettes. What happens at the end of the 0% financing? :nono:

There seems to be general consensus that the 0.0% financing is only a good deal for people with no trade-ins. How can dealers get away with paying less than the wholesale value on trade-ins? Isn't wholesale supposed to be the bottom-dollar, cash value for a car. Selling for anything less amounts to practically giving the car away. I was recently told by a local dealer that the most they could offer me for my 98 6-speed coupe was $2,000 under wholesale. They also claimed that the reason for this was that a 98 with 27,000 miles is considered high mileage and therefore difficult to re-sell. Anybody else think this rediculous? The same dealer is willing to give me GMS(about %6000 off msrp) and 0.0% financing on a 2001 coupe, but when the loss on my trade-in is figured in, it doesn't seem like that great a savings.

I'm am looking for a vette I figured out today that is
I can buy with 0% I can use the cash to pay off the
2nd on the house, I would save about 3K per year
for 5 years 15K. Makes the used less desirable
A used 98 would have to be under well 30K to be desirable
