ptk is designed to use stock x-pipe. is there any perf to be left on the table cause x pipe is 2.5 inches versus lets say 3 inch? my lg have 3 inch but will not fit. also how much rwhp with "test tubes" in place versus them stock. max effert 12 to 14 psi upgraded fuel and forged 346.
Nick,
Turbo's do not like exhaust back pressure... also, stock cats tend to come apart after awhile. I've had pretty good results with the Random Tech Metal Matrix cats... a real nice piece. Stock cats versus highflows have about a 5hp/10tq rear wheel difference. I would expect those numbers to double with offroad pipes.
Why couldn't you adapt the LG mid section to your setup and get someone to fab up some 3" pipe to adapt to your downpipes? Aren't the PTK downpipe dumps in the stock cast iron manifold location? If so, IMO, it wouldn't be a problem at all adapting what you have. Also, I think you would be better off adapting your 3" stuff or starting from scratch using 3" pipe... BUT if you want to go 3" ALL of your exhaust must be 3" or you'll just be spinning your wheels. Bottom line is the less back pressure you have the better, period. Also note that LG steps his 3" back down right at the catback flange. This would need to be modified if you are going to go with a true 3" catback...
One other thing to consider... again, I assume the PTK downpipe dumps are in the stock location...
Bassani makes an x-pipe front section that adapts to the factory manifolds... and their rear x-pipe that people normally buy slip fits right onto this front section. No welding required. Essentially you have a 2X intermediate pipe assembly with no cats. This setup is 2.5". Although not 3" it is nice, clean, light, and easily manageable when it comes to any sort of maintenance and/or repairs that "may" be needed under the car in the future...

I guess that explains my temper...residual effects from 15 years ago...but it sure was fun being 220lbs lean, repping 405 on the bench, squatting 550, and deadlifting 600...thats the good stuff...at least until my peck tear.
