I have a 98 A4 with an A&A procharger kit, 450rwhp, 3.15 gears, I am about to install a 3000 stall converter, my question is how noticeable an improvement will this be and what are the benefits. Thanks.

i went from stock to tci3000 nice improvement, then installed h/c and a tci 3800. the jump from 3000 to 3800 is much greater then stock to 3000. this is by no means is a bad choice, its just that its pretty much invisable at partial throttle. i assume thats what you want anyway.
to answer your questions, yes youll notiice it and i am sure youll love it.
My suggestion for a converter is a Yank PY3400. It can handle lots of power because of the kevlar parts in it and is made for F/I cars. It does have a 2.70 STR, so it won't be that loose, but might be a little rough on back tires! It is a high efficiency rating, so from a roll this converter should get the job done! If that stall is too high, they make a new converter for an LS1 (SSR) that has a 3000 stall. It's in their new products section. You should Yank a call.
For a high-hp procharger setup, the guys at FLP recommended a torque converter with a forged front case (Vigilate). They've rebuilt A4 transmissions that were destroyed by pieces from weaker aftermarket converters.
Be aware that the same stall rating the drivability varies by vendor. Rule of thumb for Vigilante is it drives 400rpm higher than stall rating. I had mine restalled from 3000 to 2600, and I'm much, much happier driving it in traffic. With the 3000 stall I would often pick one of my other cars to drive.
