Do the STRUT kit and figure it as cheep insurance for the rear. Depending on just what breaks, it could cost up to $3000 if a tunner rebuilds it all for you when it breaks. The automatic cars will be a lot more forgiving to the drive train than the 6 speed, and the autos can get away without the brace until they get big H.P. and a tight converter. Like the others said slicks and sticky D.R. can make a lot of resistance and break lots of things. I know I broke mine three times before I found out about the DTE strut kit!.....ZO6Bill

Sorry but never bombproof, as you add power things break, but you can reduce the breakage ... If the tires spin a little then less chance of breakage, if wheel-hop then chance of breakage increases, if track prep is awesome then could "dead-stick" and increase chance of breakage, can slip clutch and reduce chance of breakage but increase chance of burning clutch...etc etc....I made over 200 passes with no problems, then the next pass broke off teeth on penion gear...

DIY...just remember to heat them up a little bit before the video...cold Nittos vs. warm/Hot nittos= Night and Day.

When I raced teknik with my Lightning from 15-80 i was sideways because the tires were cold. did a burn out and killed him.

Hey brotha, welcome to the forums! Be careful how much time you spend in here... I've found that the emptiness of my wallet is directly proportionate to how much time I read and write on this forum.

BTW, for whatever it's worth. I took my car to Immokalee 1/8th mile last night, and got SEVERE wheel hop. So I know a lot of people are saying that going to DRs can kill drivetrain parts... but so can NOT running DRs.

thanks

yeah wheelhop can lead to bad bad things....happened in my m3 back in the day. thats why i loved launching that lightning. with the solid rear axle and leaf springs it didnt give me any fuss. We'll see how the vette goes when i start playing with that. but my current $15,000 visa bill limits me from playing with the vette for a few weeks....
