Default SC guys.....how do you clean engine?

I just had my polished SC done by ECS and I was wondering if anyone out here knows how to clean underhood engine compartment? What do you use to make sure you don't ruin the polished brackets? What kind of polish on the brackets/head unit?

I have a polished maggie. Usually I just dust it off, but if it needs the crevices cleaned I just take it to the car wash and hose it off.

I use a turkey baster to suck the water from the pockets and low areas before I drive the car. I use a spray from SP100 to lightly spray the zinc plated fastners and alum (cast, not polished) to keep them from corroding (get it at a bike shop)

Only wash a cool motor, do not spray directly into air cleaner or alternator.

Wipe all water off to keep it form spotting.

do not use wheel or mag wheel cleaner. (unless really dirty and only on a cold motor)

I use Wabits or speedy polish, but Mothers paste is good .

I use meguirs black majic vinyl dressing and tire foam on the engine compartment.

I have NEVER had a problem washing any of my engines, if ya use alittle common sense.

I hate a dirty motor...

I have an ATI.. I just pressure wash it.. Leave the car running and try not to directly blast the S/C head unit and Air filter...

Thanks....I also remember reading somewhere that some people use Windex, then hose it off.....they use it as a light cleaner that shouldn't spot as long as you dry it by hand.

Don't know about when using other manifolds but on a mag you don't want to spray water onto the motor. You'll get standing water at the knock sensors and eventually rust.

I use an electric leaf blower to dry my car and engine after washing. The less I touch the paint the better and it gets the water out of the nooks and crannies.
