I sure could have put that lift to use today doing my tranny cooler install. I'm just getting to old for sliding on my back in order to get under my car any more.

Your about 1/2 way there still need Big Air compressor and all the air tools $1.000.00, Fluid pan with collector on rollers buy the metal one the plastic ones are junk $160.00, 3/8" and 1/2" Torque wrench's $500.00, (2) Tall Jack Stands $350.00, Good Trans Jack $650.00, A couple of dollies to set your cradles on $150.00, good 6 point impact socket set $250.00 SAE and Metric. Total $3,060.00 just for the basics to do the trans swap.

Since I bought my lift I probably have close to 10K just in tools and other goodies for the garage yes you save on the labor but anyway you slice it these cars are expensive

With practice which I have had alot of this year you can drop the rear cradle pull the diff and the trans in about 1.5 hours and put it all back together including filling with fluid and bleeding out the brakes in about 3.5 hours.

I will say these cars are real easy to work on once you get the hang of it.

buddie selling used tranny jack for $100.
yes dumbie jack stands are 65 to 100 a piece. ill will buy cheap air tools from either lowes or home depot but can tell you that they seem to work just as well as the expensive ones.
i will buy the smallest oil piston driven compressor on the market, that i can get from home depot $377.

sounds like we may have a another speed contest on our hands guys!

Don't buy cheap air tools, I have been down this road and now have the good ones, IR and Craftsman Pro series have some good stuff. The cheap ones last for awhile but not the long haul, also they do not have the same power as the more expensive professional grade ones. I would look into the craftsman ones they are good units

As far as a race I think I have a leg up on you right now, I have had the front and rear cradle out enough times I can pretty much do it in my sleep, kinda nice though I can go into the garage grab all the necessary tools put them on a cart and go to town without a second thought.

On a sidenote IMHO 290psi is to much trans line pressure, I was running line pressure like this and blew the lugs apart in the drum. Something to consider down the road. Also Do Not use vacuum modulation it is not necessary, the main reason people use it I think is to get around having to tune the trans with a tuning program. I have gone back to the electronic controls and so far so good which says alot considering the way I destroy converters and transmissions these days. I am waiting for Yank to come out with their 4L80E conversion I spoke to them yesterday and they say early next year this I belive is the only true fix that will be reliable until then get used to being under your car if you want to make big power and drive it hard on the track / street.

Do you need to do anything to the garage floor? I heard that the floor needs to be 5" thick and most new homes the slab is only 3".

Scissor Lifts work great for low ceilings and when space at the sides becomes an issue..
