Here ya go I installed a number of these on the import side.

Here ya go - if you go WOT or ascend a steep hill, let her idle for a minute before shut-down. Just saved you some dough!

If it has a water jacketed turbo, you are completely wasting your money. If it were worthwhile, Oem's looking for 100k mile engine service life would have them as part of the engine management, yet I have never seen one. It would cost them little to nothing to write it into there soft/hardware.

Thanks guys. I like to let my car idle for 2 to 3 minutes before I shut it down. I've always felt that was good for the car. I did that NA, with the blower, and now with the TT's. I just feel a timer would make it more convenient.

Thanks,

Mark

Only vehicle that I've ever seen with the turbo timer stock is the Dodge turbo diesel cummings. Now keep in mind, the turbo spools up to max boost basically right off idle, so the turbo is always going to be red hot. You just pull the key, and the motor idles for a minute then shuts down. I wouldn't like this since you wouldn't be able to leave the car in gear when you leave it (manual tranny). My turbos are liquid cooled so it isn't an issue. LPE has the kit engineered such that you can drive it however you wish, and shut her down - even the scavenge pumps operate automatically. Quite handy really.

I believe so. My Ford Probe GT is liquid cooled, oil lubed, and on the visor it advises that if you've ascended a steep hill, or just driven 'spiritedly', to allow the turbo to cool for 1-3 minutes. This is also without synthetic oil, which will also add a measure of safety. Of course, the car doesn't have a turbo timer either. I think they are basically unneeded. Geez, look at all the turbo minivans Chrysler produced, and not a timer nor an intercooler on a one of em! Goes to show you the punishment a forged motor can take!
