Looking to turbocharge my 2003 c5 a4. anyone have turbo experience?
I'm not convinced supercharging is the way to go. What do you think?

I think you should get TT's.

LPE or TTi if you want em hung low and PTK if you want em up top.

Budget $12 - 20K.

Have you had the opportunity to use any of them yourself or are you just going by what you've read on this forum? I know people that have been burnt by bad info!!!

I have the TTi Stage X TT kit. I previously had a D-1SC ProCharger.

LPE , TTi , PTk . Twin turbos are the way to go. Just get ready to open your wallet . Nothing but stealth and loads of power if you go with the right setup.

Good luck !

I'm seeing these kits on line for roughly $8500.00 complete. With approx 20 hrs install price, where does the $12 to $20 k figures come from. Am I missing something?

$8500 is just to start. You will find out more later for sure.

Without trying to sound like a smart ***, thats exactly my reason for this post. These kits say "everything included". Apparently not. Before I give my deposit, I'm trying to learn what the "rest" is.

Here's some stuff to think about...

Tuning software
Wide band
Gauges
Upgraded radiator/EOC
Fuel injectors
Upgraded fuel pump
Drive train upgrades
Valve train upgrades
Miscellaneous tools/fittings
AC work or evac pump
Exhaust upgrade
Boost controller
Alky injection
Dyno tune

20hr install if you have done one or two. Double or triple it for a first time install.

Then you'll need to forge your short block and upgrade the heads...
(after you blow the stock motor...)

It's amazing how much you can spend when you try...

12K-20K is a good estimate.

Have fun...

Dave

$9,500 for the TTix kit itself less injectors, upgrades for fuel, labor and tune.
That's for bare bones not gong into the motor.

If you want to run higher than 6 psi on stock internals your going to have to go into the motor.
If you going to start to push higher boost then your going to have to upgrade your drivetrain.
The list goes on so I would talk with your shop and go over all your options.

My vote is for TT's but I'm bias.

Go TT you will not be disappointed I'm still amazed how how power these things make. I'm A TT rookie but I'm also A TT junkie. I have the PTK and love it but I also went for A ride in Phil's TTi and I loved that to. I think any TT kit you decide on will be more than you expect...

Buy a "complete" kit for $8500 and it'll be fine for now. Will it run? Yes. Will it be fast? Yes. Will it end there? No. You'll find out real fast that theres tons of things you will "need" after you get a basic setup done for around 10 grand.

Like others have said there really isnt a 'cheap' Twin Turbo.

You will need a clutch at a minimum (600-1800 depending)
injectors (400-600)
guages (500)
tune (500-1000)
Install (1200-2500)
fuel pump (300)

if you get into the toys
boost controller (500)
wideband (200)
methanol (550)
LQ9 or AFR 225 Heads to lower compression (2200)

and that is just to get you around 550-600 RWHP

If you want more then you forge the motor
Forged motor(3000)
Cam(400)

All these prices are not including the labor to do the work

you can see how it can add up quick

I love My TTI X
But I am not a do it your selfer and I know I have more then 20 grand in it (more like 25) and am about to spend more on the ECS meth, 2nd trans and converter upgrade. But that does include a new motor that I did just before the TT.
Would I do It Again? Hell YA!!! I spent less then what I could buy a new Z06 for and this thing is just a monster. (10.54 1/4 mile @ 132mph) on pump gas and drive like stock.
