Default Boost higher on road than dyno?

It makes sense if I think about it (it's a lower load in 2nd than 3rd), but on the dyno (3rd/Auto) I see slightly over 14psi. Doing a short WOT pull in 2nd to redline, I see a true 16psi on the freeway.

Do you guys see higher boost on the street than the dyno? I just hadn't been able to watch the boost gauge before until I thought about shifting down to 2nd.

I know on my TT car, I saw a different boost curve on the dyno than on the street (just due to engine load). Peak boost was the same thanks to the wastegates. I think with a blower the load itself won't affect boost unless you're on the edge of getting belt slip (although I'd expect you to see more slip on the road than on the dyno).

Just one more reason to tune on the street (private road course).

Under real load on the streets unlike the dyno.

(Me thinking to myself) I do suppose a dyno tune is only done in one gear. That means I'm tuned for WOT loads in one gear. The load on the motor is different on the street, and mostly through the first three gears. (/Me thinking to myself)

Thanks guys, that gives me something to think about.

Its all about the dyno you use that dictates that one. If you use a steady state dyno, you can fully load all cells in the timing table at any RPM and you will never have an issue when you drive.

if it was colder outside than you should definitely see a lil more boost and a smoother boost curve, and boost coming on faster
